The following are guidelines to prepare you for surgery. Failure to adhere to these guidelines could result in your surgery being cancelled. A representative from our facility will contact you prior to surgery to verify personal health information.

What to do the evening before surgery:
  • Avoid eating or drinking anything after midnight. This includes food, water chewing gum, and breath mints.
  • Avoid using alcohol or tobacco products 24 hours prior to or after your procedure.
  • Avoid taking any medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements unless told to do so by your doctor or the Oprex pre-op nurse.
What to do the day of surgery:
  • Shower or bathe. If you shampoo your hair, be sure it is completely dry and avoid using hair spray.
  • Avoid wearing makeup, lipstick, jewelry or nail polish. Leave all valuables at home.
  • Bring eyeglass case, contact lens container and solution, and inhaler if you use one.
  • Wear simple, loose fitting clothes that are easy to put on after surgery.
  • Arrive at the facility at least one hour prior to surgery.


Following surgery you will be in the recovery room until discharged home. If you have general anesthesia, avoid making any serious decisions for 24 hours after surgery.
  • You will be provided with discharge instructions before leaving the facility.
  • Avoid driving or being left alone after your surgery for 24 hours.
  • Avoid all alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours following surgery.
  • A recovery room nurse will call within 24 hours or the next business day to follow-up on your condition.
  • If you experience any complications after you arrive home, please call your doctor immediately.


  • Infants and children should not eat or drink anything after midnight. This includes water, unless otherwise directed.
  • If your child develops a fever, cold or rash, please notify your doctor prior to surgery.
  • Bring a baby bottle for your infant for after surgery.
  • Bring any familiar, cuddly item, such as a stuffed toy or blanket that might help reduce anxiety.


A representative from our facility will contact you prior to surgery to verify insurance information and any necessary financial arrangements.

  • We will bill your insurance company for your surgical procedure. Be sure to bring your insurance card and other necessary documents.
  • Fees quoted in the procedure cost include admissions processing, preoperative assessment, operating room and recovery room charges, medications and medical supplies used during your surgery.
  • Fees not included in the quoted procedure cost may include laboratory tests done prior to surgery, your surgeon’s fees, fees for the anesthesiologist, pathologist and any medications prescribed for home use.
